Blue skies, ornate arches, and a silhouettes make a great combination! We photographed this fantastic couple's wedding in Vancouver, Canada several years ago and quickly became friends. Fellow photographers, foodies, and adventure seekers, they met us in Paris and then Lisbon to for some romantic post-wedding destination portrait sessions. We feel so fortunate to meet so many kindred spirits as wedding photographers - couples who we get to reconnect with through photography again and again!
I think silhouette images are always interesting because they are so open to interpretation. With a wedding photo silhouette, the couple becomes almost anonymous, allowing the viewer to imagine who they are , what they feel, and what their story is..or to imagine themselves in the photo's setting.
Lisbon is one of Europe's best locations for wedding photography. The list of locations for wedding portraiture is long - Jeronimos Monastery, the Belem Tower, St George's Castle, Parque das Nacoes, Madre de Deus Convent, The Castelo de Sao Jorge, and Baixa - to name just a few.
I must confess however that the real reason I love Lisbon is not for its spectacular scenery and wedding photo locations, but for its ubiquitous Portuguese egg tarts or "Pastel de Nata", the top purveyor of which is the world-famous bakery 'Pasteis de Belem'. If you are ever in Lisbon, give these sweet treats a try and your life will be changed forever.
