Everything about a wedding is usually meticulously planned - often on a multi-paged color-coded spreadsheet down to the minute! Good planning and clear timelines are crucial to photography because they allow us to know when and where we need to be, and even more importantly, when and where we can try to create opportunities for spontaneity. That is often when the best moments, and best photos happen!
This image was one of those serendipitous moments. The couple, both dancers, started leaping and spinning and laughing as we walked down a sidestreet next to a convent. As we captured their dancing, a nun engrossed in her iphone walked through the frame entirely oblivious to the couple's joyfulness - I love the exuberance and happiness of the couple juxtaposed with the seriousness of the nun.
Ljubljana is one of our favorite locations for wedding photography in Europe. Its Baroque architecture, castle views, meandering Ljubljanica River, and sheer walkability make it an unmatched location for simply wandering around and photographing - be it street photography, architecture or bride and groom portraits.
We were fortunate to have recently had the opportunity to photograph a wedding in Slovenia, not far from its capital Ljubljana. To see more of our Slovenia wedding photography, please see R+M's feature Dvorec Zemono wedding here.
