D+A | Romantic Wedding at Flora Farms, Cabo Mexico

During their personal vows to each other, Alex explained how being with Diane made him feel like the”luckiest schmuck in New York City”! And throughout their Flora Farms wedding, it was clear to everyone that both bride and groom felt incredibly fortunate to have found each other – there was not a moment during their day they weren’t smiling and laughing together – even during the “serious” part of the ceremony! That kind of love and open affection makes for such a joyful wedding! From the guests to all the wedding vendors, I think everyone felt lucky to be part of D+A’s Mexico destination wedding celebration.

The couple got ready for their destination wedding at the contemporary resort Cabo Azul in San Jose, a few miles from the site of their ceremony & reception, Flora Farm.  The 10-acre property hidden away in the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains is the perfect location for a relaxed and romantic wedding.

The talented team at Signature Mexico planned a sun-drenched first look by the orchard, a candlelit ceremony in the garden amphitheatre, a family style dinner beneath the bistro lights, and a rip-roaring party in the barn. Flora Farms is one of our favorite venues in Los Cabos. While most Mexico destination weddings take place on the oceanfront, this intimate location is perfect for a rustic and relaxed romantic wedding! The farm setting has a mango orchard, sunflower fields,  a red-brick barn, and the most incredible menu made with local organic fruits and veggies. We love this old tree and the sinewy shape of its trunk and branches.  It was the perfect location for the couple’s first look before the ceremony as the sun streamed in behind them.

Signature Mexico created such a magical backdrop for the couple’s ceremony! In keeping with the pastoral setting at Flora Farms, they kept the ceremony and reception decor simple with whitewashed wooden chairs, terra-cotta urns, swathes of white muslin, and accents of antique brass. Wild greenery with unstructured florals in whites, creams, and shades of blush adorned the long wooden tables by the barn. Oh, and the candles! Their warm glow at the ceremony and the reception created such an ambience of warmth and love. Especially for a ceremony taking place during and after sunset, we can’t emphasize enough: the more candles the better!

Couples often ask us if writing their own vows is a good idea. We say: YES! After all, the actual wedding ceremony  – where you are publicly pledging your love and commitment for each other –  is really the most meaningful part of the day. Personalizing it with a story, a memory, additional promises beyond the traditional vows, makes it all the more special. It also usually means extra laughter and emotion from everyone. And that means photos that are authentic and rich with memory.
